Part Nutrition Nerd, Part Hype Girl, All Heart

Hi, I’m Melody—Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and the founder of Elevate your Plate®

I'm here to help you break free from the all-or-nothing mindset around health- so that you can stop giving up the foods you love-and start feeling strong, energized, and empowered in your body.

A woman in a cream sweater and denim shorts smiles while standing in front of a mural that reads "California Dreaming" on a blue and pink wall, embodying the vibrant spirit of California under a partly cloudy sky.
The image is completely blank with a white background—no visible objects, text, or features—much like a nutritionist or dietitian’s fresh meal plan in California before it’s filled with healthy ideas.

My Journey to Elevate your Plate®

An early passion for health

While teenagers were busy plastering their walls with magazine photos of their favorite musicians (ok I'm guilty too), I was dreaming of ways to help people live healthier lives.

During this time, I watched my grandparents battle their own health issues, including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. I saw firsthand the lack of attention on nutrition-focused strategies and always wondered could they have had more time on earth if making changes to their diet and exercise routine were a focus?

It wasn't until college, at a community event called Spirits in Action, that everything clicked. Watching a 9-year-old boy struggle to participate in a relay because of his weight, stirred something deep within in me.

That moment lit the spark that would eventually become Elevate your Plate®.

I’m proud to be a dual-credentialed expert in both nutrition & fitness

My path has taken me through:
  • Public health nutrition, focusing on community-based childhood obesity prevention
  • 1:1 coaching at UCLA and UCSD, supporting clients from all walks of life
  • Teaching several 3-month-long weight management programs
  • Serving as a Diabetes Prevention Program Specialist, leading multiple groups of pre-diabetic participants from all across the U.S. through a year long lifestyle change program

No, all services are private pay. However, I can provide you with a superbill which you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please note, reimbursement is not guaranteed.

The great thing about telehealth is that it connects me with clients from all over the United States. I currently hold licenses in Massachusetts, Texas, and Oregon. However, I can work with clients in the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming

First off, it is my goal as a Personal Trainer to make you feel as comfortable as possible during each session. I absolutely love working with clients who are new to fitness. Why? Because I love teaching proper exercise form and empowering my clients to feel confident with performing certain movements. I have a judgement-free policy and there is absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about (except maybe my bed head in the morning).

If we learned anything during Covid, it's that we don't need a gym to get a good workout in! Throughout the session, I will guide you through device placement and position you so that I can look for any imbalances. Trust me I can still see my client's form through a computer. You will still get your heart rate up, you will still get a good burn, and the best part is that you get to workout in the comfort of your own home. No waiting for machines, no awkward glances or grunts, and 0 intimidation. If you don't believe me, check out what my clients have to say.

100%! We can utilize objects laying around the house. If you are unsure about what equipment could be useful to buy down the line, you can browse through my product recommendations here (add link to product page)

I offer expertise in both nutrition and fitness, which broadens my scope of work as well as allows me to provide my clients with dual services all in one place. I embrace the individuality of each client and ensure that health interventions are inclusive of their specific goals. My approach is non-judgemental, holistic, and supportive. I am committed to providing an evidence-based, back-to-the basics approach to nutrition and fitness, which helps clients cut through the noise of diet culture and fitness trends to reconnect with the fundamental principles of health. Instead of trying to aim for quick results, I focus heavily on creating smaller, achievable goals with my clients, which collectively sets them up for long-term success.

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a food and nutrition expert who has: completed both a Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in dietetics, completed an accredited supervised practice program, and has passed a national board examination. An RDN can provide medical nutritional therapy and counseling. Additionally, dietitians can also help diagnose and treat certain illnesses. Nutritionists, on the other hand, can range from someone who completed a 6-week online course to someone who has a Bachelor's Degree in dietetics. Nutritionists can only give general nutrition advice and are not permitted to provide medical nutritional counseling or diagnose or treat illnesses. All RDN’s are nutritionists but most nutritionists are not RDN’s.
